Making your website go faster, Performance talk from DrupalCamp #BadCampUk Brighton 2012

A couple of weekends ago I went to Brighton for the DrupalCamp Brighton / BadCampUK, great fun!

I had the pleasure of doing a talk on general Drupal performance optimisation. I aimed to cover so much stuff that it was hard to fit it into a 30 minute time slot. Luckily there are quite a few links on the slides (also see the slide notes) as my aim was to give a jumping off point for people to dive into whatever aspect of performance interests them.

Here's the link!! /sites/default/files/legacy/deeson-online/uploads/perf-talk.ppt

If you ever get the chance to go to a DrupalCamp (or talk), do it!

There seems to be a level of interaction and engagement you can only get from gathering a set of people together and talking face to face.

Pro-tips for doing a session:

  • Make sure you take a display adapter, typically a VGA one (most projectors use VGA).
  • Take a wireless mouse with you if you can, that way you can click to move through your slides instead of dashing back and forth from your machine, or being anchored to it.
